Make a Difference . . .

The Season of Giving is upon us and your local ALCO store is joining in the effort by sponsoring a food drive from November 23 through December 6.  Their theme is "A Season of Giving".  All stores will set up a canned food donation area at the front of the store during this two week period.  The food that is collected will be provided to our local food bank.  ALCO will also be matching these donations with their own contributions up of up to 50 tons distributed across the participating food banks where Duckwall-Alco stores are located.

The local food bank is administered by the ministerial alliance and is available every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 2-4 p.m.  It is located in the west wing of the former "Lone Tree Lodge".

Eva Ruth Johannsen helps oversee the food bank each month and determines the need for different food and adjusts the amount each family can receive based on what is available.  Currently the food bank is in need of canned fruits.  The local food bank will soon be putting together the holiday baskets which means more food will be needed.

Please take a minute and think about how you can make a difference during the "Season of Giving."  All of your donations to the ALCO food drive will stay in Meade.

Foods that the food bank can accept are:

Any kind of Beans such as Kindey, Pinto, Pork & Beans
Canned Meat like Chicken, Tuna, Spam
Peanut Butter

Items that cannot be accepted are:
Out of date foods or soon to be
Glass Items
Rusty/unlabeled cans
Baby Food
Homemade Foods
Alcoholic Beverages
Soda
